Environment

In all its operations Tiwest incorporates a number of environmental initiatives which reflect the integrated nature of the company.

Since commencing operations in 1989, Tiwest has clearly understood its obligations for environmental care and protection and has addressed these through appropriate planning, and the implementation and management of effective control systems.

All of Tiwest's operating sites have an Environmental Management System (EMS) driving continual improvement in performance.

Each site's EMS has been developed to suit its specific needs. Environmental targets are agreed to by the site management teams in order to meet policy commitments, mitigate assessed risks and fulfil legal requirements by complying with environmental and other licences.

The EMS also acts to ensure the company meets the expectations of the community and fosters a continual performance improvement culture throughout the organisation.

Tiwest's Cooljarloo, Chandala and Kwinana sites Environmental Management Systems are certified to ISO 14001 by the International Organisation for Standardisation.

Tiwest's strong track record of achievement, openness and personal accountability for its environmental performance has enabled it to meet continuous public environmental assessment and scrutiny at all operating sites.

Under its agreements with the State Government Tiwest provides comprehensive annual and tri-ennial environmental reports that are available for public scrutiny.
